99.95 ATAR | 3 State Ranks | English Adv/Ext 1/Ext 2 Tutoring (98/50/50)

Hi all,

I'm Robbie, and I am offering my services as a specialist English tutor. I graduated as Dux of Knox Grammar School in 2014 with an ATAR of 99.95 and 3 state ranks.

98 in English Advanced (7th in the State)

50 in English Extension 1 (7th in the State)

50 in English Extension 2 (5th in the State)

My Tutoring Style
I'm extremely passionate about English, and provide individually tailored lessons in HSC Advanced English and Ext I/Ext II courses. I enable students to master the art of writing a full-mark essay, create a creative writing piece readily adaptable to any HSC stimulus, and add unique textual insights or related texts that give you an edge. My short story/poetry hybrid piece for my Extension II major work was nominated for the Young Writers Showcase, so I'm also available to mentor and tutor this subject in either the creative or critical disciplines.

Internally, I came first in English Advanced, English Extension I, English Extension II, Modern History and Economics; receiving 105/105 in my English Advanced Trial. I achieved a Band 6 in all 12 units, including Maths Extension 1 & 2.

Do you tutor other subjects?

Yep! I received a 96 in Economics. I'm confident I can help you master the syllabus.

I've also represented Australia in public speaking and debating, and I've been told I'm great at communicating complex ideas. I am a public speaking coach, and will help you to nail the speech-writing and all-important manner aspects of the English course.

Although I'm setting this up as a specialised English service, I also provide tutoring in Maths (up to Extension 2); Modern History and Economics; and personal tuition for public speaking/debating. Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding your tutoring needs. I'll let you know if I don't feel qualified to help you out in a particular area (read: science).

PM or email (preferable) for further details.

Where?

I tutor at my home; a 5-10 minute walk away from Pymble station. I'm also happy to tutor at Gordon library.

Barista Courses

Hey guys,
Im currently considering two coffee courses
The coffee school
http://www.sydneycoffeeschool.com.au...ted/parramatta

and the Australian Barista School
http://www.australianbaristaschool.c...ning;Info;1645

The coffee school is cheaper by around $25 and much closer as well, but it says it is not accredited, whereas the australian barista School is. Does this greatly affect chances of employment? It does however, come with their own certificate of attendance (not sure if employers mind this)
Also, has anyone been on either one of them? Opinions are greatly appreciated.

This is a worksheet on balancing chemical equations. It was one of the last few questions I left out because I wasn't too sure on how to approach it. The (OH)2 part is the one that confused me.

Thanks.

Not allowed free periods?

A question about free periods. I'm doing Ext english, advances english, Maths ext 1/accelerated, physics, economics and Japanese beginners but now have to pick up Studies of Religion I to fill up the 'free space' on my timetable? Is this normal, as the deputy said that without SOR I, I wouldn't be able to do the HSC because I did not have enough classes? She also said it's normal within other high schools and that i'm not meant to have free periods anyway, so just wondering because it just sounds uber dodgy.

Help with Inverse Trig Differentiation Question

Find, in the form y = mx + b, the equation of the tangent and the normal to the curve at the point indicated:

y = inverse sin(x/2), at x = sqroot(2)

I found the tangent to be y = x/root(2) - 1 but the answer has the same but with + pi/4.
I have no idea where pi came from essentially
Thx all

Enrolment HELP! LANGUAGE?!?!?

I am doing a Bachelor of International/Glob Studies and Laws at Sydney.

I am struggling to enrol in the correct language unit though.
I have chosen French Studies as my optional major and my understanding is that in Semester 1 (and 2) I undertake a unit of study worth 6cp of French, in order to major in it at a senior level.

However when I try and select my correct level which is FRNC2633: Senior French 9. Entry level B1+ - i can't.

I can only select Junior French units and the highest one is Junior French 5 - Advanced.
This particular unit says it is for people that got less than a band 6 in French Continuers and Extension... However I got 94 in Cont and 45 in Extension.

Does anyone know how I can enrol in FRNC2633? As it says I cannot yet?
Or do you think the Junior French 5 FRNC1632 is going to be okay for me?? to start off in?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have practice questions by topic and two more general mathematics textbooks.

PM me for details, price and precise names. It's going pretty damn cheap cause I just want to get rid of it.

A few portfolio related questions

I am asking this as I am not sure whether or not I am crossing any lines with my portfolio work. I do have an excellent teacher but I have a feeling that maybe you guys can also help me out here as well.

1. Am I going too HAM with my research items? I have 12 pages of research with roughly 20 different research items. This is for the research section alone.

2. According the the Board of Studies standards is it expected to use an equivalent to Times New Roman size 12 font? I want to go a bit bigger so I can use a more cursive font while it is still readable. I've seen some really top notch portfolios that break this boundary but I do not wanna lose marks rather than gain marks for it. Is it just to prevent people from using too small a font or is it to stop people from having one work per page portfolios?

Cheers guys!

Hi everyone!

My name is Namu Lyoo and I am operating a small tutoring business in Hornsby that focuses on delivering high-quality mathematics education for Year 7-12 students. We deliver an 1 vs 1 session or a classroom teaching (around 3 students) depending on your ability and progress.

As a qualified secondary maths teacher and former university academic (at UNSW), I will be the main teacher but I also have few other assisting teachers that will run free homework help sessions or few other lessons on their own.

How are we different?
  1. Our qualified teachers are highly accomplished with many years of teaching experience at high schools and university.
  2. Our teachers received first-in-the-state award for HSC Mathematics, Actuarial Co-op Scholarship, 99+ ATAR and other academic scholarships.
  3. We deliver accelerated and structured learning program based on our own course materials including weekly assessments and homework.
  4. We emphasise on small group teaching to provide tailored learning experience.
  5. We offer free study room usage & homework help on weekends.
  6. We are responsible. We don't suddenly change our time or get you a replacement tutor. We are always here to assist you.

Most importantly, our program is very flexible to meet your needs. Whether you are struggling to catch up to school curriculum or wishing to excel beyond your peers, we tailor our program based on you. For your reference, I have 3 students who are currently accelerating under my guidance because they have shown their eagerness and talent to study ahead of their peers. In terms of class environment, you will always be competing students around your ability so that we can tailor our teaching better.
